Graduate Programme

As a company, we place great value in encouraging the ambitions of those who share in our passion for high quality software development. This is why we think it is important to offer opportunities to university graduates through our Graduate Programme.

Averaging around 12 months, our programme is designed for candidates to have access to real live projects, providing industry experience, as well as a means to build a solid foundation for a career in software development and engineering.

About the Programme

Your training will begin with a two-week introductory activity, styled to mimic the characteristics of a typical Zircon client project. This will give you an in-depth grounding for your role here at Zircon, as well as the opportunity to get to know the team and gain experience of the procedures and practices utilised by our engineers.

As we believe that the best way to build up experience is to have a chance to make a real-world impact, we don’t limit graduates on the programme to simulated project scenarios. Following on from the training period, you will be integrated into one of our current project teams, based on existing knowledge and current skill set.

Of course, we won’t be leaving you to go it alone throughout the course of the programme. You will be assigned a mentor from our team of highly skilled engineers. They will be your guide for the duration of the programme, helping you find answers to questions and having regular check in’s to make sure that you understand the tasks you have been set and most importantly that you are still enjoying yourself.

Career & Personal Development

Having completed the graduate programme, you will be fully equipped to handle the expectations and responsibility included in the role of a Software Engineer. The role transition from Graduate to Engineer will be smooth, with no effect on any current work you may be involved in at the time.

As a member of our team, you will continue to have the opportunity to gain experience of working with various software systems, with work being bi-annually reviewed in appraisals leading to ongoing career developments based on ability and performance.

“We encourage all of our employees to continue their personal development, and actively pursue professional qualifications including Chartered Engineer status (C.Eng) through membership of institutions of the IET or BCS.”
