We are looking for a graduate who has good aptitude for software engineering. Good verbal communication and the ability to document technical ideas in a concise and easily understood manner are essential. The company’s quality system is applied to all areas of the business and the successful candidate will need to follow the defined standards and working practices in a controlled environment.
Useful technical skills for this role include previous experience in Object Orientated Design/UML/XML, and programming in C/C++ and/or C#.
Projects undertaken by Zircon usually range from 2-6 months in length with teams of between 1-8 people. Engineers are expected to work on all stages of the software lifecycle, rather than being pigeonholed in a particular discipline and graduates are placed into teams after a brief induction. This means you get to be involved with real projects and provide a valuable contribution to the company, right from the start. As we are project (rather than product) based, and these projects generally are short in duration, you will get to work on a variety of different applications, often having involvement in the project from start to end.
This position is for a full time job, with a starting salary of £20k to £25k depending on experience.
Zircon offers a relaxed and supportive atmosphere to its employees. Established in 2001, we are small independent organisation, with values based on integrity and quality, and with the aim of developing long lasting relationships with our clients. Examples of companies that we have worked for are Invensys Rail, Knorr-Bremse, Atkins, VOSA, Siemens and The Highways Agency. We are based in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, which is approximately a 30 minute drive or 20 minute train journey from Bath. Most of our projects are carried out from our office, but you may on occasions be asked to work on a client’s site. We expect a high level of motivation and reward it with:
- Good salaries
- 28 days holiday
- Contributory pension scheme
- Life insurance
- A profit-related bonus scheme
Zircon offer a well-defined career development structure, backed up by supportive staff and a mentoring programme. We have recently been awarded with the Investors in People Bronze standard, which highlights our commitment to the development and wellbeing of our staff.
