3D Train Graph Concept
Following the publication of Network Rail’s Future Control Strategy, it can be seen that a gradual migration over the next 20-30 years is required before all its aims will be realised. Improved decision support tools have been mentioned as one of the elements required, as part of a final control solution to achieve the objectives of the Future Control Strategy.
Zircon has many years experience working on various rail systems and is utilising this knowledge and experience to develop a decision support application that could be utilised by Network Rail over the forthcoming years. The application uses 3D Train Graphs to provide a unique method of presenting information to operators.
A 3D train graph allows viewing of non-linear train schedules/data. This novel approach allows the operator to overlay on a schematic map of the railway, schedule information of all trains using common sections of converging and diverging routes.
